After the film registered Rs 22.5 crore collections on the first day (Friday), Rs 15.5 crore on Saturday, the expectations were high on Sunday too, and according to estimates, Akhanda 2 raked in Rs 15 crore. The film’s overall collections stand at Rs 61 crore (net) in India (including Rs 8 crore from premieres). These box office numbers are promising for a film that received negative reviews from critics and trade. Fans attribute the collections to Balakrishna’s star power and his commanding screen presence.In North America too, the devotional action drama registered $750K at the box office making it a successful weekend. According to industry analysts, the litmus test for the film starts from Monday. While the general prediction is that any film would witness a decline in ticket sales on Monday, it’ll be interesting to see how Akhanda 2 continues its box office run. We have faced several challenges while making Akhanda 2, but we came out flying colours.
